Public Health

The program, "The Joy of Transformative Healing for the Body and Mind: Integrating The Arts for Health," will involve physical and somatic movement, expressive art, and sound. Participants will engage in physical and somatic movement in nature to unleash creativity, explore feelings and behaviors through expressive art, and explore the power of sound.

EHAN's incessant effort to increase opportunities for optimal health and educational outcomes presents this health initiative to promote well-being as a construct of healing: Namely, a chance to grow appreciation of one's community, self-awareness, bolster family harmony, and broaden optimistic viewpoints among participants. By tapping into natural resources, such as our forest preserves, we'll connect with nature uniquely. Dr. Felicity Joy Solomon will use her book series "Thought Garden" as a guide to inform and motivate participants to realize their value and responsibility to the community in which they live over three 90-minute sessions, culminating with a community meal.

The target audience will include parents/guardians and their child/ren to facilitate improving communication and an awareness of the importance of: recognizing feelings, how to express emotions healthily, and increasing awareness of depression, anxiety, and other symptoms of emotional and mental disorders or physical challenges.

Equally crucial to raising awareness is knowing when and how to seek help.

Ms. Kijuana Boulrece, LCPC and EHAN Board Member will provide on-site professional guidance for mental health services referrals and improve health literacy, focusing on behavioral, emotional, and mental health issues.

  • AT EHAN, we are in agreement with Healthy People 2030's definition of Health Literacy.

Personal health literacy is the degree to which individuals have the ability to find, understand, and use information and services to inform health-related decisions and actions for themselves and others.

Organizational health literacy is the degree to which organizations equitably enable individuals to find, understand, and use information and services to inform health-related decisions and actions for themselves and others.
